Apparatus for heating and brewing a mash or wort or heating a brewing container has an internal boiler formed of a vertical tubular heat-exchanger and is such that circulation ducts (3a, 3b) lie at a height (h) below the mash level, these ducts being connected via tubular bundle (2a) to the space (2e) and having a pump (6) and a backflow pipe (8a) as well as an introduction/distribution pipe (8b) such that operation of the pump (6) leads the heated mash out of the space (2e) while cold water simultaneously flows back in bundle (2a) and the mash (13) heated in the bundle flows back to vessel (1).
