PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable optical filter that suppresses the interaction between coloring matters even if a plurality of coloring matters are intermixed in the same coloring matter layer, and prevents spectral characteristics from changing even under use for a long time, and to provide a display. SOLUTION: In the optical filter, a coloring matter layer contains at least a coloring matter having the maximum wavelength in a wavelength region whose wavelength is 800-1,100 nm, and that having the maximum absorption in a wavelength region whose wavelength is 570-610 nm. In this case, the optical filter does not contain at least two kinds of ionic coloring matter compounds having different cations substantially.
