PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the functionality of a gear shift device of a semi-automatic transmission or automatic transmission without significantly changing the process of basic gear shift already known by a driver through daily experience in a case of an automobile using the semi-automatic transmission or automatic transmission. SOLUTION: A select lever includes three stable positions for select stages P, R and N and simultaneously a fourth stable position 10.
