A computer is provided to advance booting in a state that a keyboard is not connected, respond to an input signal of the keyboard even if the keyboard is separated from the computer after the booting and the keyboard is reconnected, and respond to the input signal of a remote controller even if the keyboard is not connected. A device controller(1) processes the input signal. A controller(2) determines whether the input device responding to a response request signal by a device controller is present or not. If the input device is not connected, the controller responds to the response request signal. The input device includes the first input device(6) directly connected to the device controller and the second input device(7) connected to the device controller through the controller. The controller includes a switch(3) switching connection with the first and second input device, and a microcomputer(4). If the input signal is received from the second input device, the microcomputer converts the received input signal into the input signal recognizable to the device controller and applies the converted device signal to the device controller.
