PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid wire for gas shielded arc welding that is highly efficient and has excellent mechanical performance in a weld zone, when carbon dioxide gas shielded arc welding is applied to a carbon steel whose strength is not higher than 520 N/mm<SP>2</SP>class. SOLUTION: The solid wire for carbon dioxide gas shielded arc welding has the composition containing, by mass%, 0.020-0.080% C, 0.75-0.95% Si, 1.60-1.90% Mn, 0.003-0.017% S, 0.19-0.25% Ti, 0.14-0.35% Mo, 0.0025-0.0160% O, 0.15-0.45% total Cu, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Regarding the unavoidable impurities, P and N is regulated to≤0.020% and≤0.0080% respectively. When content (mass%) of Mn, Si, Mo, S and O is [Mn], [Si], [Mo], [S] and [O] respectively, [Mn]-[Si] is controlled to≤1.10%, [Mn]+[Mo] is≤2.20%, and [S]+[O] is≤0.0290. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
