An apparatus for receiving an image signal and a control method therefor are provided to prevent a phenomenon having a missed/broken picture generated by turning on an LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) operation when a receiving electric field level of an inputted RF(Radio Frequency) signal is a feeble electric field. An LNA(20) receives an RF signal from the outside, and amplifies the received RF signal. A tuner(30) tunes the RF signal amplified from the LNA(20) as a certain channel. An IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal analyzing unit(40) demodulates the signal outputted from the tuner(30), and calculates an SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) of the demodulated signal. A control unit(60) judges the strength of the signal outputted from the tuner(30), and controls the amplifying operation of the LNA(20) on the basis of the strength of the signal and the SNR from the IF signal analyzing unit(40). |
