PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, which suppresses torque fluctuation when a drive mode of an electric motor is switched and stabilizes output of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This control device is applied to the engine 100 equipped with a valve gear 11A converting rotation of a motor 12 into linear motion by a cam 21 and opening/closing an intake valve 2 of a cylinder 1 by the linear motion; and with a motor control device 40 driving the motor 12 in each of a normal rotation drive mode to continuously rotate the cam 21 in one direction and an oscillation drive mode to switch the rotational direction of the cam 21 during lifting of the intake valve 2. At the time of switching of the oscillation drive mode and the normal rotation drive mode, the motor control device 40 adjusts ignition timing of an ignition plug 4 to suppress torque fluctuation of the engine 100 expected to occur along with the switching of the drive modes.
