PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a plastic film capacitor from damage in the case where the capacitor is subject to radiating infrared energy used for performing reflow soldering to a printed-circuit board. SOLUTION: An infrared shield 10 is wound around a plastic film capacitor 12. The shield 10 is fixed to the capacitor 12 with adhesive material such as silicon resin, acrylic resin, rubber or the like. When shield is made of conductive material such as aluminum, the shield 10 is wound so as not to come in contact with capacitor terminals 16 and 18 or lead-out wires 20 and 22 on the top of the plastic film 14 of the capacitor. To use a non-conductive adhesive agent on the shield is to prevent the capacitor from being short-circuited, in the case where the shield comes in contact with the opposed terminals on the capacitor.
