A method of cooking food using steam is provided to improve the cooking performance of the food by introducing the proper steam to the cooking space at the proper time according as the steam is introduced to the cooking space before the steam preheating step. In an automated household oven(10) having a cooking space(14), a heating system(35) for heating the cooking space, and a steam system(44) for introducing the steam to the cooking space, a method of cooking the food using the steam is composed of a preheating step of heating the cooking space at a cooking temperature; and a cooking step of holding the cooking space at the cooking temperature. The preheating step contains a dry preheating step of preventing the steam from being introduced to the cooking space, and a steam preheating step of introducing the steam to the cooking space. |
