PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for display, which does not require unnecessary lightness and improves efficiency of the whole lighting device for display, and can be made compact at reduced cost. SOLUTION: The lighting device 1 has a display panel 2 having a function of displaying a plurality of display colors of white and green, a light emitting device 3 comprising a plurality of light sources 32, 33, and 34 having different wavelengths from one another, and a diffusion sheet 6, the display panel 2 has a main body section 21 and an additional transmission section 22, and at least one of the plurality of single-wavelength light sources includes many of the above display colors.
