PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smell measuring instrument for shortening measuring time while maintaining satisfactory repeatability without bringing about an increase in the consumption of specimen gas, etc. SOLUTION: This smell measuring instrument is formed by being equipped with a control part 11 programmed so that the resistance value of a sensor 4 is measured as a sample resistance value when the specimen gas is supplied to a flow cell 3 for a prescribed time period with a sensor 4 disposed thereon, and that the resistance value of the sensor 4 is measured as a base resistance value when the prescribed time period has elapsed after the gas supplied to the flow cell 3 is changed from the specimen gas to zero gas.
