A method for controlling volume of a bell sound of a mobile terminal is provided to compensate for weak volume of the first downloaded sound source so as to be volume of a level higher than a predetermined level, by differently setting the gain of an amplifier according to music genre. For at least one or more sound sources installed in a data memory unit(103) of a mobile terminal, gain information of a corresponding sound source is set to be different according to a sound source, and when the corresponding sound source is outputted to a speaker(107), an amplifier(106) of the mobile terminal is amplified based on gain information corresponding to the corresponding sound source. The gain information of the sound source is set according to music genre of the corresponding sound source.
