The composite profile consists of two metal profiles (1, 2), between which a clamping profile rail (7) made of heat-insulating material is inserted. The clamping profile rail (7) has two mutually opposite part profiles (8, 9) and, lying between them and pushing the latter apart, two wedges (10). The wedges (10) are pushed with their tips (13) in the direction of the metal profiles (1, 2). They interact with associated tapering surfaces (14) of the clamping profile rail (7). The inner wedge ends are provided with guide grooves (18), into which, during assembly of the composite profile, a tool (16) which presses the wedges (10) apart can be introduced. This composite profile has a high shear strength and can be assembled in a rapid and simple manner. <IMAGE>
