Antiseptic compositions comprising at least one salt of EDTA are disclosed. These compositions have broad-spectrum antimicrobial and antifungal activity together with anticoagulant properties. The antiseptic compositions also have demonstrated activity in penetrating and breaking down microbial slime, or biofilms. They are safe for human and medical uses, and may be used to prevent infection, or reduce the proliferation of and/or eliminate existing or established infections. |
