<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine capable of accurately detecting the thermal degradation of the exhaust emission control function of an exhaust emission control member. <P>SOLUTION: A controller 25 detects the thermal degradation of the exhaust emission control function of the exhaust emission control member 30 having an NSR catalyst 31 and a DPNR catalyst 32. When the thermal degradation is detected, the averaged value of the estimated floor temperatures of the NSR catalyst 31 at multiple positions is calculated and the averaged value of the estimated floor temperatures of the DPNR catalyst 32 at multiple positions is calculated. Then, the calculated averaged values are corrected by using values indicating the degree of the thermal degradation affection of the catalysts on the exhaust emission control function of the exhaust emission control member 30, and based on the corrected values, the thermal degradation is detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
