An interactive marketing and communication system, comprises: an application server operable to execute an application server software program for communicating promotional information with an authorised user of an online commercial application by means of a user access terminal that is communicable with the application server and operable by the authorised user to display thereon promotional information received from the application server; and an application database associated with the application server, the application database having at least one information table capable of storing promotional information therein, the information table being accessible by the software program on the application server to insert promotional information therein, and asynchronously accessible by the user access terminal to retrieve said promotional information for display thereon. The invention extends to a method for interactive marketing and communication.
