PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specimen placing stage that eliminates the need to adjust focusing even when the direction in which an object is observed is changed. SOLUTION: On the specimen placing stage 1, a specimen to be observed by an observing apparatus capable of magnifying and observing the specimen is placed. The specimen placing stage 1 allows the specimen to be freely changed in its observed direction. The specimen placing stage 1 includes: a placing member 10 whose outer peripheral face 11a has the shape of part of a spherical face and whose upper face 11c side allows a specimen to be placed; and a holding member 20 whose inner peripheral face 21c has the shape of part of a spherical face and which holds the placing member 10 by receiving the outer peripheral face 11a of the placing member 10 along the inner peripheral face 21c. In the placing member 10, an operating part 12 for operation is disposed on the outer peripheral face 11a, and a placing part C on the upper face 11c side, on which a specimen is placed, is located in the center of the spherical face, which is common to the outer peripheral face 11a and the inner peripheral face 21c of the holding member. Operation of the operating part 12 enables the outer peripheral face 11a of the placing member 10 to be rotated and inclined along the inner peripheral face 21c of the holding member 20 without displacing the placing part C on the upper face 11c side.
