PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive adsorbent having effective selective adsorbability for elements present in a solution and having adverse affect on human bodies and environment. SOLUTION: This adsorbent selectively adsorbs a specific ionizable matter in the aqueous solution, and is a layered double hydroxide formed by intercalating amino acid. At least either of one of a metal selected from Li<SP>+</SP>, Al<SP>3+</SP>, Cr<SP>3+</SP>and Fe<SP>3+</SP>, or bivalent metal ions such as Mg<SP>2+</SP>are included as an outer oxide.
