<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protecting device of a vehicle capable of detecting abnormality of pedestrian collision detection means at an early stage. <P>SOLUTION: This pedestrian protecting device of a vehicle comprises pedestrian collision detection means installed at a front end of the vehicle, pedestrian protection means protecting a pedestrian colliding with the vehicle, and control means receiving signals from the pedestrian collision detection means and actuating the pedestrian protection means.
