<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developing device capable of securing internal capacity space, keeping the conveying property of developer excellent, and achieving the supply or the recovery of fixed quantity of developer while meeting a demand that the device is miniaturized. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing device equipped with a development assisting unit for assisting a developing unit in development, the developer storing chamber 2 of the developing unit 1 and the auxiliary storing chamber 6 of the development assisting unit 5 are adjacently arranged through a partition wall 7. A dispensing chamber 8 communicating with the developer storing chamber 2 and the auxiliary storing chamber 6 so as to supply or recover the fixed quantity of developer G is formed inside the partition wall 7, and a dispensing member 9 for conveying the fixed quantity of developer is disposed in the dispensing chamber 8.
