<p>A shield (2) for catching, accumulating, and radially hurling out dirt is attached to the tip (11) of a rotor blade (1). The sides of the shield flank the blade tip in-between and run perpendicular to the turbine axis. The shield is also formed of sheet metal and is U-shaped cross-section consisting of a base and a pair of legs. The base is curved up to conform with the curvature of the blade tip. An independent claim is also included for an axial flow turbine.</p> |
