The invention refers to a milling cutter having a working area (1) of diameter (D) greater than the diameter (d) of a clamping area (2), said cutter comprising at least essentially conical supplemental portion (12), which extends towards a clamping portion (2) and co-axially with respect to at least essentially cylindrical effective milling portion (11), which forms a part of a working area (1) having a diameter (D) greater than the diameter (d) of the clamping area (2). Diameter (D) of said supplemental portion (12) adjacent to the effective milling portion (11) corresponds to diameter (D) of said milling portion (11), and diameter (d) of the supplemental portion (12) adjacent to the clamping area (2) corresponds to diameter (d) of the end portion of the clamping area (2), which is faced towards the working area (1). Such milling cutter is characterized by excellent stiffness and moreover enables a high-speed milling by achieving an extreme depth, which exceeds the length of the working area (1), even when side cutting blades (14) of the milling cutter have already been sharpened several times. |
