PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surfactant which suppresses the cause of a gastric ulcer or the like by blocking urease activity, and a deodorizer, a deodorization material, and a deodorization method capable of preventing a malodor generated from human waste or the like and performing deodorization. SOLUTION: The deodorizer contains the surfactant capable of blocking the urease activity. For the deodorization material, the surfactant capable of blocking the urease activity is contained in a water absorbent.
