A device for filtering and separating a flowing medium (11) comprises a pressure-tight housing (14) containing membranes (13); an inlet (15) for the flowing medium; and outlets (16, 17) for the permeate (18) and the retentate (19) to be removed from the device. The membranes are formed as membrane pads. A number of membranes are wound around each other to form spirals (20) around a permeate run-off and collecting device (21). One end of each membrane pads has a permeate run-off opening connected to the corresponding permeate inlet openings of the permeate run-off and collecting device. Preferred Features: The membrane pads have a rectangular contour and the permeate run-off opening is formed on one of its front sides. The membrane pads are separated from each other using spacer elements.
