<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent carrier for cell culture releasing cultured stratum compactum in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the carrier for cell culture composed of a simple substance for cell culture with two or more layers comprising a gel-layer containing a hydrophilic polymer and a water-soluble polymer and a gel-layer containing an anionic polysaccharide and a polyvalent metal ion preferably in abutment with the gel-layer.
