A method for testing a bidirectional communication interface comprising a transmitter ( 8 ) and a receiver ( 7 ) connected to a same transmission line ( 4 ) comprises the steps of a) amplitude controlling the transmitter ( 8 ) so as to emit (S 2 ) a test signal in a first frequency range at a first amplitude (A 1 ), and detecting (S 3 ) a first amplitude (E 1 ) of a signal in a second frequency range received at the same time at the receiver ( 7 ), b) amplitude controlling the transmitter ( 8 ) so as to emit (S 4 ) the test signal at a second amplitude (A 2 ), and detecting (S 5 ) a second amplitude (E 2 ) of the signal received at the same time at the receiver ( 7 ), c) based on the first and second amplitudes (E 1 , E 2 ) of the received signal, judging (S 6 , S 13 ) the interface to be in order or not in order.
