PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct an own vehicle's position on a map before entering a corner. SOLUTION: The route guidance system for a vehicle comprises a map database 20c in which map information having traveling route information for the vehicle AM is stored, a forward road shape decision means 20a<SB>3</SB>for deciding the road shape ahead of the vehicle, an estimated deceleration starting point calculation means 20a<SB>5</SB>, when decided as being a corner by the forward road shape decision means 20a<SB>3</SB>, which determines an estimated deceleration starting point As on the map at which it is estimated that the driver would perform a deceleration operation when entering the corner, and an own vehicle's position correction means 20a<SB>6</SB>, on the basis of the difference between the estimated deceleration starting point As and an own vehicle's position Pb<SB>navi</SB>on the map upon the actual deceleration operation by the driver, which corrects the own vehicle's position P<SB>navi</SB>on the map to the estimated deceleration starting point As.
