PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive roll direction detection mechanism capable of detecting a setting direction regardless of the form of a tip of paper, in a device provided with a function for detecting a setting direction mistake of replenished roll paper for improving convenience for a person in charge and jam prevention capability. SOLUTION: Wrong determination of a loading direction is eliminated by determining a loading direction by detecting that correctly loaded roll paper has been rolled up instead of extracting a tip of wrongly loaded roll paper to detect it.
