<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take measures against theft and detection of device abnormalities of a biometric device, without preparing special apparatuses or mechanisms. <P>SOLUTION: In this biometrics device, a reference image of a ceiling, a wall surface, part of terminal equipment or the like, which is taken using a camera for acquisition of biological information, when the device is set or an optional initial setting is executed, is compared with an in-operation image of the ceiling, the wall surface or the like, which is acquired in actual operation. According to the matching rate of the images compared, detection of camera failure, contamination of a lens or the like, mischief, or device theft is executed, to perform abnormality diagnosis of the device.
