<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method capable of suppressing a printing cost. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 is provided with an intermediate transfer belt 11, a paper feeding cassette 16, a detector SE, a control part 50, and so on. The intermediate transfer belt 11 carries a developer image formed on an image forming position up to a secondary transfer position 40 where the image is to be transferred to a sheet of paper. The paper feeding cassette 16 stores the paper to be supplied to the secondary transfer position 40. The detector SE detects the residual of paper stored in the paper feeding cassette 16. The control part 50 judges whether the residual of paper stored in the paper feeding cassette 16 is less than a prescribed quantity or not on the basis of the detection result of the detector SE, and in the case that it is judged that the residual is less than the prescribed quantity, the start of formation of a developer image on the image forming position is delayed as compared with the case that it is judged that the residual is not less than the prescribed quantity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
