<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable stabilizing power generation, even when a fuel cell is exposed to a low-temperature environment. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system is equipped with a fuel cell generating electric power by the reaction of reaction gas, a reaction gas passage, through which the reaction gas flows, a scavenging means for scavenging the reaction gas passage with scavenging gas, and the reaction gas passage is scavenged with the scavenging means according to a state of the fuel cell. The fuel cell system is, moreover, equipped with a scavenging deciding means for decing whether scavenge with the scavenging means is necessary, and a malfunction detecting means for detecting the malfunction of the scavenging deciding means. When the malfunction of the scavenging deciding means is detected with the malfunction detecting means, scavenging is conducted with the scavenging means when the operation of the fuel cell is stopped. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
