<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong a service life of a cleaning member and a part related to image formation which is abutted to a cleaning member. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus acquires image information to be printed by an acquiring part (S101) and 1 is added to a variable i (S102). The acquired image information and the variable i are stored in a storing part (S103). It is determined whether the variable i exceeds 100 or not (S104) and when the variable i exceeds 100, a determination part instructs a specified process to a processing part. The processing part which received the instruction calculates an average value of image density stored in the storing part (S105) and the calculated result is transmitted to the determination part. When the determination part determines that switch of the cleaning member is required, an operation directive is given to a driving apparatus which is not shown in Figure by the determination part.
