PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block for a retaining wall, which secures sufficient planting space therein but does not have particularly large dimension in a fore-and-aft direction. SOLUTION: The block 1 for the retaining wall has a front wall 2 and stay members 3 on a rear side of the front wall 2, in a manner protruding from the same. In each stay member 3, its base portion extending toward the front wall 2 is laterally widened, and the base portion has a stay portion space 6 formed therein, which is opened at least upward.
