PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcedα-brass that as compared with conventional brass material, realizes an excellent balance of high proof stress and moldability without deterioration of stress relaxation characteristics, and to provide a process for producing the same. SOLUTION: In the reinforcedα-brass composed of 82 to 62 wt% of copper and the balance zinc and unavoidable impurities, 0.2% proof stress is 540 to 800 MPa, and the minimum bending radius (MBR) at which cracks are not caused by orthogonal bending with the rolling direction as a bending axis/plate thickness (t) and 0.2% proof stress (σ<SB>0.2</SB>) satisfy the relation ship: MBR/t≤0.0125×σ<SB>0.2</SB>[in the case the value of MBR/t is≤0.3, it is regarded as 0.3]. The production process is characterized in that, after recrystallization annealing, cold rolling is performed at a low reduction ratio of 7 to 55%, and thereafter, low-temperature annealing is performed.
