PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of suppressing generation of inclination of a tool and preventing a possibility of deterioration of machining accuracy due to a deflection of a cross rail. SOLUTION: The machine tool installs and supports the cross rail 16 between a pair of columns 15a. The saddle 21 is horizontally movably supported on the cross rail 16. The grinding wheel 24 is mounted on the saddle 21 as a tool. The machine tool is provided with a level 27 for detecting an inclination amount of the grinding wheel 24 according to the position of the horizontal traveling direction of the saddle 21 to adjust the inclination angle of the grinding wheel 24 with respect to the horizontal surface according to the detection result by the level 27.
