PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color processing method and an apparatus capable of reproducing an achromatic input color in a single black color on the basis of a color reproduction range of an output device. SOLUTION: The color processing method converts input color data into output data indicated by a plurality of color components including a black color component, discriminates whether or not the input color data indicate an achromatic color, and converts the input color data in a way that color components other than the black color component in the output data are almost zero when the input color data are discriminated to indicate the achromatic color, and the conversion carries out color correction processing applied to the input color data on the basis of the color reproduction range of the output device and obtains the black color component in the output data on the basis of the lightness component of the color data whose color is corrected.
