PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flash lamp type fixing apparatus capable of uniforming a fixing strength in a paper sheet width direction in a fixing region with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The flash lamp type fixing apparatus is provided with: a lamp case 11 installed above a paper sheet guide G2 for fixing region guiding a bottom surface of the paper sheet P in a fixing region Q2 and storing inside a flash lamp 13 and an emission plate 12 which are installed extended to the front and back direction which is the direction of the width of the paper sheet; a first fan 16 which blows cooled air inside the lamp case 11 from the back end side of the lamp case 11; and a second fan 17 which sucks in the warmed cooled air which is warmed when flowing around the flash lamp 13 and blown to the front end side of the flash lamp 13 and then exhausts the warmed air toward the back part in a bottom surface of the paper sheet guide G2 for the fixing region from below the vicinity of the front end of the paper sheet guide G2 for the fixing region.
