The door (1) has a core (2) which may be made of wood and has a plastics strip (3) glued to one edge. The door may be moved longitudinally along a support beam (4). A fixed stand holds a polishing machine (5) with an electric motor (7) driving a polishing disk (6) set at an angle to the edge of the door. Polishing powder may be blown onto the disk through a nozzle (8) connected to a pipe (9) connected to a dosing valve (10). A tank (12) supports a pump (13) pumping polishing material through a pipe (11) to the dosing valve. There is a compressed air pipe (14) connected to a compressed air source. There is a connection (16) for an electronic control circuit (17).
