PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film carrier reducing operator's work and accurately positioning an image frame. SOLUTION: A screen detection sensor 108 constituted of a plurality of density sensors 108A for detecting the edge of the image frame recorded on photographic film is provided on a film conveying path R. The screen detection sensor 108 is arranged at a position within the image frame even when the center of any image frame of photographic films F1 to F5 having the different length of the image frame in a film conveying direction is aligned with the center C of a maximum imaging range H. The rear side edge of the next image frame is detected in the midst of conveying the photographic film, and the conveyance of the film is controlled so that the center of the next image frame may be aligned with the center C of the maximum imaging range H with a detected rear side edge as reference.
