PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of analyzing the purity of a 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride. SOLUTION: In calculating the purity of the produced 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, the peak areas of the respective aromatic protons of the 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, a 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid anhydride and 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid are calculated from a proton nuclear magnetic resonance absorption spectrum, measured using a proton nuclear magnetic resonance absorption analyzing method and the ring closure ratio of the dianhydride is calculated to determine the purity of the dianhydride for the analysis method of 2,3,6,7-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride.
