PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment resistant bearing steel having an excellent rolling fatigue life even under using conditions where hydrogen embrittlement peeling occurs without remarkably changing the conventional heat treatment conditions or the like by adding alloy elements with SUJ 2 as a base. SOLUTION: The environment resistant bearing steel has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.6 to 1.3% C, 0.1 to 1.0% Si,≤1.5% Mn,≤0.03% P,≤0.03% S, 0.3 to 2.5% Cr, 0.05 to 2.0% V,≤0.050% Al,≤0.0015% O,≤0.003% Ti,≤0.015% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which surface hardness after quenching and tempering treatment is≥58 by HRC, and fine V based carbides with the maximum diameter of≤500 nm are dispersedly precipitated.
