PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety handrail enabling a handrail body to be fast and easily moved from a predetermined position when moving the handrail body located in the predetermined position upward or downward. SOLUTION: The safety handrail comprises the handrail body 7, a horizontal bar 8 for releasing operation vertically movably attached to the handrail body 7, a pair of mobile hook units 9 respectively provided on both ends of the horizontal bar 8 for releasing operation and a guide means 10 for guiding the handrail body 7 along a longitudinal member 1 of a frame 4 for scaffolding. The mobile hook unit 9 is formed of a swing lever 20 having a hook F hooked to a horizontal member 2 of the frame 4 for scaffolding at a top end and pivoted to the horizontal bar 8 for releasing operation and the handrail body 7. The swing lever 20 is swingable between a hooking posture in which the hook F is hooked to the horizontal member 2 and a posture of releasing hooking in which the hook F is retreated from the longitudinal member 1 of the frame 4 for scaffolding to the side of the handrail body 7, and is always energized to the hooking position by its own weight. The swing lever 20 is swung from the hooking posture to the posture of releasing hooking by raising the horizontal bar 8 for releasing operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
