A process for preparing vulcanized products comprises mixing an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer with a white mineral filler and a promoter of homogeneous dispersion, subjecting the mix to milling with heating (e.g. at 200-300 DEG C.), cooling, mixing with an organic peroxide and sulphur and then vulcanizing. The filler may be silica, a silicate, clay, talc, calcium carbonate or barium sulphate, and the dispersion promoter may be tartaric acid, furfurol, furfurylic alcohol, furoic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid, succinic acid, malonic acid, oxalic acid, acetic acid, formic acid, acetic anhydride, ethyl acrylate, diethyl malonate, lead maleate or zinc maleate. Optional ingredient specified is a neutralizer for the acidity of the filler, e.g. Mg, Zn, Ca or Pb oxide. In examples, tetrachlorinated di-t-Bu peroxide is used as the organic peroxide. The products find application in electrical insulation. |
