A resistor comprises a carrier body 1 of circular or elliptical cross-section provided at one end with two separate regions 9, 10 of solderable material and carrying two strips of resistance material 5, 6 which are connected at the other end face of the body so as to be in series and are connected each to one of the regions 9, 10 which form the contacts of the resistor. The resistance material may be carbon deposited pyrrolytically and/or metal and the double helix may be formed by grinding or during application of the metal resistor coating by printing, vapour deposition or spraying. The carrier body may be of ceramic or of polytetrafluoride carbon, polyethylene or polypropylene. A protective coating 7 of varnish may also serve to stop the resistor from slipping through the hole in the printed circuit plate 12. The carrier body, if cylindrical, may be provided with a slot or projection or other marking.</p> |
