PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new dental plaque collection tool for collecting dental plaque from the surfaces of teeth and using the collected dental plaque for evaluating caries activity in the oral cavity from the change of the color of it. SOLUTION: The dental plaque collection tool comprises: a columnar handle part 1; and a dental plaque collection part 3 formed at one end of the handle part 1 through a neck part 2. At one end of the columnar handle part 1, the dental plaque collection part 3 is formed through the neck part 2. The upper edge of the neck part 2 forms a curved surface 2a having a section positioned above the upper edge extension line of the handle part 1 following a section positioned below the upper edge extension line, and the lower edge of the neck part 2 is positioned above the lower edge extension line of the handle part 1. A width between both of the side edges of the neck part is gradually thinned toward the dental plaque collection part 3. The upper edge of the dental plaque collection part 3 forms the extension plane 3a of the tangent angle of the termination of the curved surface 2a of the neck part 2. The lower edge of the dental plaque collection part 3 is connected with the distal end of the neck part 2 through a projecting curved part 3c via a lower edge surface 3b forming an acute angle from the distal end of the extension plane 3a. The dental plaque collection part 3 has a plane where a width between both of the side edges is 0.2 to 0.7 mm and area is 2 to 10 mm<SP>2</SP>.
