A treatment device (1) for an endoscope has a tubular sheath portion (24) having an inlet opening (36) at the proximal end thereof and a long treatment device body (37) provided with a basket (45) at the distal end thereof, wherein the treatment device body (37) is advanceably/retreatably inserted into the sheath portion (24) through the inlet opening (36), and the basket (45) is projected from and retreated into the distal end of the sheath portion (24) by advancing and retreating the treatment device body (37) relative to the sheath portion (24). The treatment device (1) for an endoscope has an installation portion (30) that is placed between an endoscope (2), at which a forceps plug opening (21) is provided, and the sheath portion (24) and installs the sheath portion (24) to the endoscope (2) such that the inlet opening (36) and the forceps plug opening (21) are arranged opposite to each other on substantially the same line.
