A catalytic composition comprises cellulose crystallite aggregates or derivatives thereof supporting a catalyst which consists of or includes at least one of the following: Ziegler type catalysts of formula Me(R)n where Me= Be, Al, Ga or In and R=H or an alkyl radical. Complexes of formula AlH3, LiAlH4, AlR3, NaAlHR3, BeH2 and BeR2. Organo metallo B compounds. Nalta-type catalysts. Organic peroxides. Inorganic acids and Lewis acids. Base catalysts e.g. alkali metal hydroxides and carbonates. Metals-oxides and other compounds thereof. Preferably the crystallite aggregates have a size up to 250m . |
