The decantation pit (2) is made with an access ramp (10) to facilitate cleaning and incorporates a water level wall (8) opposite or perpendicular to the inlet duct (7) for the liquid to be decanted. A discharge pipe for the decanted liquid, located behind the wall, is equipped with a valve (3) to control the liquid decantation time which is opened by an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic power cylinder (4), linked to the valve by a rod (6) and operated from a control box (11). A partition (5) before the wall prevents particles of solid matter escaping with the discharged liquid.
