A new composite material (I) for production of a joint connection for high temperature use comprises (a) an amorphous glass matrix of silicon dioxide (SiO2), calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) at 70-90 wt. % and (b) a crystalline phase consisting of a precrystallized glass and/or ceramic powder component at 10-30 wt. %. An independent claim is included for a method for joining two components, involving applying (I) between the two components and carrying out thermal treatment.
