PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an emulsified polymer that has a hollow structure and is useful as an opacifier by charging a hydrophilic monomer mixture in a feeding tank directly connected to a polymerization reactor and a hydrophobic monomer mixture in another feeding tank connected to the former feeding tank, respectively, and feeding them simultaneously under stirring, and continuing the emulsion polymerization while the composition of the monomers is continuously changed. SOLUTION: A hydrophilic monomer mixture, for example, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer (styrene) in an amount of 10-90 wt.% and a hydrophilic acid monomer (fumaric acid) in an amount of 10-90 wt.% is charged in a feeding tank B directly connected to a polymerization reactor, while a hydrophobic monomer mixture, for example, of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in an amount of 90-100 wt.% is charged to a feeding tank A directly connected to the feed tank B. Then, the monomer mixture is simultaneously charged so that the monomer mixture in the tank B and the monomer mixture charged from the tank A to the tank B may be simultaneously charged into the polymerization reactor, whereby the emulsion polymerization is carried out, as the composition of the monomers to be charged into the reactor is continuously changed.
